The investigation follows history and current migration in the Romanian cultural setting on three distinct levels:

1. Reconstruction in an integrative, synthesis approach of the population movements history on the present territory of Romania, Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina;
2. Identify and analyse the relationship between the presentation/ interpretation of the phenomenon of historical migrations and the intellectual and official discourse of the twentieth century and the beginning of the 21st century;
3. Establishing the role of population movements in the assimilation and transfer of new identity models.
