Florin-Teodor Olariu is a senior researcher at the Department of Dialectology and Sociolinguistics, the “A. Philippide” Institute of Romanian Philology – the Iasi Branch of the Romanian Academy. He works at the priority project of the Romanian Academy The New Romanian Linguistic Atlas by Regions. Moldavia and Bukovina and coordinates the researches for The Audio-Visual Linguistic Atlas of Bukovina, a pilot-project for Romanian geolinguistics. Areas of competence: Romanian dialectology, sociolinguistics (sociolinguistics of migration, sociolinguistic minorities), geolinguistics (computerization of linguistic cartography) and pragmalinguistics (conversation analysis, sociopragmatics).

Cercetător ştiinţific principal gr. I dr. în cadrul Departamentului de dialectologie și sociolingvistică de la Institutul de Filologie Română „A. Philippide” al Academiei Române, Filiala Iaşi; coautor al Noului Atlas lingvistic român, pe regiuni. Moldova și Bucovina și coordonator al Atlasului lingvistic audiovizual al Bucovinei, proiect-pilot pentru geolingvistica românească; domenii de interes: dialectologia, geolingvistica (informatizarea cartografiei lingvistice), sociolingvistica (sociolingvistica migraţiei, sociolingvistica minorităţilor) și pragmalingvistica (analiza conversaţiei, sociopragmatică).
